Tour Edge Moda Silk Women’s Complete Set Review

  • 2020 Complete Set Reviews, Golf for Women

Tour Edge is a golf club company that flies a bit under the radar. Tour Edge doesn’t do the same marketing and advertising that TaylorMade or Callaway does, but their products are not bad at all. The pricing on the Tour Edge sets are usually considerably better, and they provide a lot of customizations to their clubs for little or no cost. This Tour Edge Moda Silk Complete set is a great full set option for a female golfer. If you have been wondering if the Moda Silk is for you or you have been looking for a mid-price high-quality opportunity, this could be the one.

Set Composition

the best value complete set for beginners women seniors ladiesThe Tour Edge Moda Silk certainly contains everything a lady golfer would need to get around the course. This set comes with . . .

  • Driver
  • 3 Wood
  • 5 Wood
  • 5 & 6 Hybrids
  • 7-SW
  • Putter
  • Cart Bag
  • Headcovers

We love the fact that you get two fairway woods and two hybrids. Traditionally speaking fairway woods and hybrids are easier for a woman to hit solid, especially out of a less than ideal lie. The fact that the irons start at a seven iron appeals to the mid to high handicap player that struggles with proper launch coming off the face of an iron. Ideally, we like to see a six-iron included as well, but you can always add a four hybrid to this set should you need to fill the gap between the five hybrid and the five wood.

Style

One of the reasons that this set does so well is that it looks good. The golf bag is offered in several different color combinations. With the matching head covers, this golf set looks sharp. It in no way seems like a cheap package set or a beginners golf set. The golf bag included with the Moda Silk set is considered a premium golf bag with significant pockets and club compartments.

The Moda Silk set is offered in navy/black, black/sea green, and black/hot pink. The black golf bags hold up the best overtime when it comes to dirt and damage from being on the golf cart. Navy/khaki, black/sea green, black/hot pink.

Technology

The Moda Silk complete set is designed to be forgiving and easy to hit. The Driver is actually a 15-degree driver (which is quite a bit of loft), but it is effortless to hit straight. The majority of the clubs in this set are slightly offset to help encourage the right to left ball flight that most players are looking for.

The Moda Silk irons are a cavity back design with a low center of gravity. If you struggle with getting your irons up in the air, this club will help with that.

Another great feature of the Moda Silk complete set is the putter. The putter has a very modern mallet head design. The putter has great alignment lines and an offset design.

Player Profile

So who is the Moda Silk golf set built for? We think this is a fantastic beginner set that also works for a mid handicapper. If you are a lower handicap female golfer, you will likely need to move away from the complete set options and choose something that you put together with the specs that you need.

The Alternative

strata callaway vs tour edge review golf clubs

The Tour Edge Moda Silk is a very reasonably priced complete set considering all that it comes with. If, however, you are looking for something a bit simpler that will save you a few hundred dollars, it may be worth looking at the Callaway Strata Ultimate Complete Set.

The Strata Ultimate Complete set is going to come with a few less clubs than the Moda Silk, but it is an excellent option for a complete beginner set. The Strata set is forgiving and will provide plenty of distance. The Callaway Strata comes with

  • Driver
  • 3 Wood
  • 4 & 5 Hybrid
  • 6-9 Irons
  • PW
  • SW
  • Putter
  • Stand Bag
  • 4 Headcover

You will end up with a slightly different set makeup but certainly enough clubs to get around the golf course. Where the Moda Silk seems to fit the needs of both mid handicap and high handicap golfers, the Starta appeals more to the high handicap and beginner. It is priced several hundred dollars less than the Tour Edge and built by Callaway, so in those areas, it is coming out ahead.

Yes or No to the Moda Silk?

We think Tour Edge does a great job not just with their complete set but all of their options. In fact, if you are looking for a new set of irons for a very fair value, you should look at the new Tour Edge HL 4 iron set for women. It’s affordable, forgiving, and has a great feel. This Moda Silk golf set is a great value and should last for many years.
